On Feb 22,2016 Demopolis Police Officers were dispatched to a local bank in reference to some subjects trying to cash counterfeit checks. Upon Officers arrival the subjects had already left the area. Officers began to check the area and were able to locate the subjects and a search of the vehicle was conducted. Counterfeit checks along with marijuana and a stolen handgun were recovered.

The following individuals were arrested and charged:

Jonathan Jermaine Melton, B/M, age 29 from Tuscaloosa, Alabama for Possession of Marijuana inthe First Degree, Nine (9) Counts of Possession of a Forged Instrument in the Second Degree and Receiving Stolen Property in the Third Degree.

Devonte Hinton, B/M, age 21 from Tuscaloosa, Alabama for Possession of Marijuana in the First Degree, Three (3) Counts of Possession of a Forged Instrument.

Jamares Jordan, B.M age 19 from Tuscaloosa, Alabama for for Five (5) Counts of Possession of a Forged Instrument in the Second Degree.

All three were processed and later transported to the Marengo County Detention Center for a Bond Hearing.
