Patrol Division
The Patrol Division is considered as the "Backbone" of organization and is the largest division in the Demopolis Police Department. The purpose of the division is to provide a high standard of public safety and assistance twenty-four hours a day for the protection of the city. Patrol officers provide a wide variety of law enforcement services including responding to calls for service, writing reports, traffic control, accident investigation, conducting preliminary investigations into crimes, and providing security to the city.
Patrol officers take on several different responsibilities during events including crowd control assisting with lost children/parents, businesses walk-thru, resident home vacation checks, providing security for city court when court is in session, sporting events, off-duty security, drug-crime prevention presentations and any number of other activities. These responsibilities are achieved in a variety of methods including foot patrol, bike patrol, and a fleet of marked and unmarked patrol units.
